<\/span><\/div>\n
Tony Bates is North Salem\u2019s resident playboy.  <\/span>Since the sudden death of his college sweetheart, Tony has kept all his relationships casual and fun. <\/span>Then, <\/span>at O’Leary’s Pub,<\/span> <\/span>he sits next to Catrina Striker, who has been stood up after a blind date, and destiny takes over.<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
Tony has always looked at Catrina as nothing but his buddy’s little sister, until the chance encounter that summer night.  Cat and Tony agree to keep their involvement a secret rather than risk Tony’s friendship with her brother.  However, what starts out as a secret fling soon becomes much more, and Tony must decide if he’s ready to risk his heart again or lose the woman who completes him.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n

After reading this, I want to know more about Tony!!!  And, to tease your reading palate, here is a small excerpt from the novel:<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n
\u201cYou forgot about me, didn\u2019t you?\u201d Before Cat responded, he looked in Jimmy\u2019s direction. \u201cShe promised me a dance, but I haven\u2019t seen her since the ceremony.\u201d Tony grabbed Cat\u2019s hand as he spoke. \u201cSounds like the band is starting up again. What do you say?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Cat squeezed his hand, but looked at Jimmy. \u201cI did promise him a dance when I saw he came alone.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cNo problem. I\u2019ll call you soon, Cat,\u201d Jimmy said.<\/span><\/div>\n
It took some effort to swallow down the words on his tongue in response to Jimmy\u2019s statement, but he managed it.<\/span><\/div>\n
In silence, he led them to an empty spot on the dance floor and pulled Cat as close as he assumed appropriate for the setting.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s the matter, Tony?\u201d Her fingers moved against his neck. \u201cYou look mad.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cI\u2019m fine.\u201d Fine if wanting to rip someone\u2019s head off was fine.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cAre you sure?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
The concern in her voice had him mentally cursing. He didn\u2019t want her digging too deep into his feelings tonight. He didn\u2019t even want to dig too deep into them.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cPositive.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cMrs. O\u2019Brien looked so happy today. It\u2019s going to be awhile before I remember to call her Mrs. Larson instead.\u201d <\/span><\/div>\n
Cat stepped closer, her chest brushing against his. If he lowered his head an inch or two, he could kiss her. While it didn\u2019t appear as if anyone was watching them, he couldn\u2019t take the chance. <\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re not the only one with that problem. Already tonight, I started to call her Mrs. O\u2019Brien before I caught myself. We\u2019ll all get used to it.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cDid you see Sean dancing with Charlie earlier?\u201d Cat asked. \u201cHe looked miserable.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cSean hates dancing. Mia and Charlie ganged up on him.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
 \u201cI had a feeling it was something like that.\u201d Cat glanced around before she smiled at him. \u201cI\u2019ve miss
\ned you,\u201d she said in a softer voice.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cCould\u2019ve fooled me,\u201d Tony muttered under his breath before he could bite back the words.<\/span><\/div>\n
Cat\u2019s fingers stopped caressing his neck. \u201cWhat\u2019s that supposed to mean?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Fuck. How had he let that escape? Now it was out there, and he couldn\u2019t take it back. \u201cNothing, Cat.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Without warning, she stepped out of his embrace and headed for the nearest exit. Thankfully, at the same time, Gage Larson finished up his current song and couples exited the dance floor. Tony checked to see who might be watching before he followed Cat out the side entrance.<\/span><\/div>\n
She waited for him in the hallway. Grabbing him by the hand, she led him down an empty hallway and into the dark coat-check room, closing the door behind them.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s try again, Tony. What did you mean?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
The unfamiliar jealousy he\u2019d struggled with much of the night clashed with the frustration building inside him. Women didn\u2019t breach his emotional wall, or at least not anymore. Somehow though, Cat managed to put a big crack in it tonight.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve looked perfectly content all night.\u201d Christ, he sounded like a jealous boyfriend.<\/span><\/div>\n
Cat\u2019s mouth dropped open, and she blinked. \u201cYou\u2019re mad because I was dancing? What did you want me to do when they asked?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
He was entering dangerous territory here, and he knew it. Unfortunately, all the warning bells in his head couldn\u2019t keep his mouth shut.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cSay no. Did you see me dancing with anyone?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t say no to everyone and then dance with you.\u201d She touched his cheek. \u201cIf it makes you feel better, I didn\u2019t want to dance with them.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
